Forecast Diagrams |

The american AVN (Aviation)-Model is identical to the MRF, with the only difference that it is run four times daily
and forecasts just 3 days ahead.
The Wetterzentrale charts using the AVN data normally complete at 5, 11 and 17 UTC.
The 7-days MRF diagrams complete around 8 UTC. The used horizontal grid has a resolution of 1 degree (ca. 100km).
The ensemble diagrams are made of twelve 0 UTC ensemble runs.
Forecast diagrams These diagrams show the temporal development of several meteorologiscal parameters. In the ´Near surface values´ diagrams the parameters are temperatures, type and amount of precipitation, surface pressure and wind. In the ´Free atmosphere´ diagrams these are the cloud coverage in some levels, the vertical distribution of humidity, temperature and wind, and finally the relative topographies and thunderstorm indices. The 850hPa ensemble diagrams show the 850 hPa temperature forecasts of some european cities for each ensemble run. The bold blue line indicates the high resolution MRF reference run, the colored lines the ensemble runs. The bold white line show the ensemble mean of twelve 12 runs. The same colors apply for the precipitation curves in the lower part of the diagram. Precipitaion is related to the right y-axis. |
